Indigenous Women and Decision-Making

June 17, 2015

This training manual has been developed to address the power relationships that influence the daily lives of indigenous women at a community level. It focuses on the decision-making roles and responsibilities that are an integral part of an indigenous woman’s daily or regular life experience, and has been designed to be contextualized in the community in which it is being applied. The manual aims to provide participants with an understanding of gendered roles in their community/society and what these roles imply for decision-making responsibility. The training manual also provides an opportunity for women to learn of the relevant national legislation and international laws regarding the rights of women, with specific focus on the cultural context in which these laws would be applied.
